Students Play for annual charitable gaming cause

With gaming consoles set up around the Cyber Café, the Askew Student Life Center (ASLC) hosted the annual Noles Play for Child’s Play fundraiser on Saturday, March 30.

“We’ve been growing and growing,” said Joshua Miller, the chair of the ASLC’s Game Committee. He said the funds raised from the Noles Play event have doubled every year since 2014.

With a goal of $10,000, this year’s event included a wide range of activities for attendees, including video games, raffle drawings, a bake sale, board games and a silent auction where winners could receive game memorabilia. All of the proceeds will go toward buying toys and games for children at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville.

“We’re just trying to have as many different fun things as possible going around to get as much money as possible to donate to the hospital,” Game Committee Member Nicole Abuid said.

The fundraiser was open to the public, allowing a wide range of supporters to donate to the cause.
