The boss of a charity sponsorship website has completed a 24-hour outdoor computer gaming challenge to raise funds for homeless people.
Give Penny Chief Executive Lee Clark completed the challenge to raise money for homelessness charity Shelter yesterday in the garden of The Ruin, a venue near to the website’s Birmingham base.
The challenge is part of a partnership between Give Penny and Shelter that included a Giving Tuesday event on 27 November that raised £2,500 where staff members from the charity and sponsorship website livestreamed games on Shelter’s Twitch channel.
Clark, who raised £1,000 taking part in the challenge, said: “Facing homelessness is something most of us never have to contemplate. Working with Shelter and learning more about the reality that so many families face these circumstances every single day inspired me to take on my own fundraising challenge as part of the Level up for Shelter campaign.
“I hope it goes some way to highlight the work Shelter does in this area and we raise lots along the way.”
Shelter’s Digital Marketing Manager Eoghan Beecher added: “Here at Shelter it is important for us to ensure our digital activity is of the highest standard and working with GivePenny to launch Level up for Shelter was no exception.
